Home Renovation & Extension
Located in the charming suburb of Labrador situated not far from the Broadwater, this lovely beach-styled cottage with too many archways and walls no longer served its purpose, making it a dark and enclosed space. Our team came in with a fresh perspective and saw the potential that our clients had already envisioned. We knew that we could help bring their design ideas to life, creating a renewed, airy, and open-plan layout, while still considering the exisiting features and strong structure of this coastal paradise. A couple, along with their two playful chocolate Labradors, were excited to renovate their home, and we were excited to come along for the ride!
So, what was the goal of this reno? It was simple! The primary goal of this renovation was to provide a larger footprint to the back of the home by extending it by one-third. We removed a few unnecessary walls, allowing light to enter the kitchen and dining area. We also merged a new bathroom and laundry space into one and included an outdoor deck to soak up the Queensland sunshine. We achieved this by adding an extension to the rear of the house and incorporating a hallway to the back of this coastal bungalow. Our clients wanted to revamp this home and show the potential in all its glory. But why stop there? We gave some extra TLC to the exisiting master bedroom, ensuite, and additional bedroom, as well as a new study area.
And the result? The removal of the walls completely transformed the space! With the help of the fresh, crisp white cabinetry, sleek countertops, and subway tiles, the open-plan kitchen and living area had been revived! But the open-plan concept doesn’t end there! The new and improved outdoor decking area extending off the kitchen created the perfect spot to relax and unwind.
Leaving the entertainer’s delight, we make out way down the hall, entering into the sleek and modern main bathroom. The selection of the floor and feature wall tiles, chosen in a marble-look stone, a crisp white vanity and sleek matte black fittings enhanced the calm retreat ambiance, which mirrors how you feel in the secondary bathroom. Initially, the original design did not accommodate for an additional bathroom. We had an idea mid-project to strategically merge a shower into the laundry area as one seamless flow throughout, which would give our clients the second bathroom that they had hoped for, along with the needed laundry space. They were thrilled with the idea!
There is so much to love within this remodelled home, and we enjoyed every second of the process.
