We are a family of six, working parents and four kids- all between high school and university and none of whom have plans to leave home anytime soon!

We needed to update the kitchen and laundry desperately, but more importantly needed to create more living and entertaining space that could accommodate all of us while making the most of our outlook.  

Through the renovation, we decided to completely revamp our kitchen - opening up space between the kitchen and dining area. We also added an upstairs laundry and extended what was a pokey deck off the kitchen into a wrap-around deck with multiple entertaining spaces.

Opening up the kitchen, dining and deck transformed a fairly pokey old-fashioned Ashgrovian into a highly functional, free-flowing and socially engaging space that can now accommodate multiple gatherings at the same time.

We chose Smith & Sons Ashgrove because we have known and talked with Jackie and Jason Hawke for some time about this renovation. They know and live in the area and we felt comfortable talking with them about what we were hoping to do. Ultimately, we felt they understood what we were trying to achieve – not just with the build – but more importantly for our family.

Jackie and Jason were always interested, accessible and easy to talk to about any aspect of the renovation – including any concerns or unexpected issues. They made sure any problem that arose through the renovation was solved without any drama.   

Overall, this was a surprisingly positive and easy experience. Jason and Jackie were consistently great to work with, always professional and kept us in the loop. They and their teams managed the quirkiness of our old Ashgrovian house without any dramas. Importantly, there were no surprises at any stage and the fact that the project finished on budget was a huge plus.
