As a very busy full time worker and single mum Neil made the entire renovation process quite manageable. My house needed the old carport, deck and sunroom demolished and a new deck and extension built. I had a lot of trouble finding a builder to do a quote, perhaps because of the complexity of the job. I cold-called Neil after passing by his job site in Burleigh, which looked neat and tidy and appeared to be quality work. He was very open and honest, explaining there were a few jobs ahead of me, but assured me that my timeline of having my renovation done by Christmas was possible. Neil was very good at communicating via email, and we even managed to work through a relaxation permit and council approval via email while I was overseas in Canada. Neil’s workers were also very professional and good with my 5 year old. I was pleasantly surprised that all the workers listened to my concerns and answered my questions. I didn’t feel ignored or not taken seriously because I am a woman, which unfortunately is not always the case with trades. Neil always communicated with me via email or phone to give me advance notice of decisions I would need to make on colours or materials and this system worked well. The documents I received over the duration of the project regarding the contract and invoicing were professional and clear. One of the things I was most impressed with by Neil was his vigilance to safety on the job site and I often heard discussions about the proper way to complete work safely. The job was completed in a timely manner and Neil has a knack for scheduling work in a way to keep things progressing, even when unexpected delays occurred, such as discovering asbestos that needed to be removed. We are very happy with our new space and enjoying the new deck and Christmas is right around the corner.
