My wife and I bought our house new in Toowoomba in 2006 and although we liked our house very much, we knew after living in it for 18 years it was time to give the house a bit of a facelift. We both retired in 2023 and wanted certain areas around the house to be more aesthetically pleasing, functional and enjoyable.

On our list of wishes was to totally revamp the patio and BBQ area by raising and enlarging the concrete base, have this tiled, flyover roof, new guttering, a new half wall & bench and black louvres. New paint outside, driveway repainted and garage floor sealed. New Velux windows with electric blinds to be inserted in the roof of our hallway, kitchen, and lounge area. New down lights in these areas and some minor works completed on the inside. 

Prior to engaging with Smith & Sons we had attempted to work with a builder; however, we had difficulty getting a quote and a timeframe around when work would be commenced and completed. After four months of delays and not even an initial quote we decided to look for another builder. After doing some initial searching online, we did some more research and after speaking with friends, neighbours and acquaintances Smith & Sons came to us as being highly recommended. 

I dropped into Smith & Sons office in James Street unannounced just to get an indication of how I would feel about them and whether they would be prepared to come and quote on the work we wanted done. The receptionist/ office manager was warm and inviting and said that Darryl (Managing Director) was involved with another client now, however if I was prepared to wait 5 minutes, she would let Darryl know I was here.

After 5 minutes Darryl came out and introduced himself, I asked many questions and found his responses straight to the point, informative and he was willing to offer alternatives of which I had never thought. Darryl said he would be happy to come out and give us a quote, however, did let us know that there were several other customers ahead of us. I appreciated the fact that he was upfront about this. I went away from this meeting feeling very positive and felt Darryl's team would be the right fit for us. After discussions with my wife, we decided to go ahead with Smith & Sons. Daryl visited our home within the week, and we had a quote the next week. After two meeting to discuss time frames and payment schedules, work began in September 2023 and was completed mid-November.

Smith & Sons project managed all the work and organised all the trades. We found the team from Smith & Sons to be excellent communicators and they chose other trades people who were prompt, courteous, professional, who also cleaned up after their work was completed. When we did have concerns, Smith & Sons listened, and change happened pretty much immediately. Overall, it was a stressless renovation for us, no confrontations. 

We highly recommend Smith& Sons as an organisation that cares about what they do and takes pride in their work.
